Interior Trends to Love this Autumn #AW17

I find Autumn the perfect time to refresh my house and bring in all the colours, fabrics and pieces that will make my home feel nice and cosy over the colder months. Being in rented accommodation this can be difficult but it doesn’t stop me planning for when I own a house of my own and creating mood boards for the styles I want to incorporate into my house (when I eventually buy one of my own)! I’ve been looking into what’s popping up in shops this August, and what trends we’ve seen from fashion for AW17 to inspire my choices.

Purple has always been one of my favourite colours. I used to decorate all my school books and folders in purple – although the trend of the time (the early noughties) was putting purple with green. Now, things are a little less Halloween chic and more sophisticated, combining purple with blues. And you can’t forget a pop of metallic shine – gold! This colour scheme screams modern DIY with a rustic feel, and I absolutely love the gold and rose gold home accessories at Next at the moment – especially with a variety of geometric shapes featuring to give them a modern twist.

You can never go wrong with tartan, but I love the idea of combining a harsh pattern with a much softer pattern like florals, and the grey and pale pink undertones make a room feel much more modern – it’s the perfect choice for any guest bedroom or for a redecoration idea for a teenage bedroom. I’m also in LOVE with the Graham & Brown Printed Canvas from Very!

If you want to recreate a modern “bachelor pad” feel to your living room, look no further than Urban Outfitters! I’m a massive fan of this rustic style – and “bachelor pad” doesn’t have to mean for men only – the androgynous style of Urban Outfitters furniture is great for any home. Bringing in the geometric shapes and soft coppers to the grey colour palette make for a minimalistic yet fashionable look that you can easily change with pops of colour each season.

Can you see a theme here – I love metallics, and I love vintage! I first discovered The Old Cinema online a couple of months ago when planning a trip to London and trying to find some weird and interesting shops to visit. while these items are mainly one of a kind, their classic vintage styling from a number of eras can be found all over the country! The 1950’s and 1920’s are two of my favourite eras for fashion and home decor. The grey and wooden colour scheme combined with a pop of bright yellow give a modern twist to the vintage stylings. A large vintage trunk and a proper theatre light are my #homedecorgoals right now.
